PIYESTA PINOY In celebration of the 123rd Independence Day of the Philippines

In celebration of the 123rd Independence Day of the Philippines, the Philippine American Cultural Foundation (PACF), the organizers of this Piyesta Pinoy will host a virtual Philippines Fiesta in partnership with the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago.

“At Home with Piyesta Pinoy 2021: Support Local Filipino Restaurants for Recovery”
will be live on the Piyesta Pinoy FB Page
on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 2pm to 4:30pm CST.

In support of social distancing measures, the annual event that hosts a power-packed 12-hour programming live event at the Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center will instead be online, streaming live on Facebook and YouTube. This year’s celebration will be condensed into a 2 hour online show of local cultural and variety performances plus an additional half hour special recorded video of celebrities from the Philippines sponsored by GMA Pinoy TV, our exclusive media sponsor.  We are happy to announce the GMA celebrities who will be joining our virtual celebration – Rayver Cruz,  Glaiza de Castro  and  Chef JR Royol. In addition, we also will feature Cathy Ang as our special guest. Cathy Ang is a Filipino-Chinese American actress and singer based in New York City. She is best known for playing Fei Fei in Netflix’s Academy award animated movie-musical Over the Moon! Just like in the past, several local cultural and variety performers will be featured including Chicago’s local Filipino American celebrity Emil Nicolasin who recently sang at the Chicago Bears game and the Chicago Cubs game.

For its theme this year, the organizers of Piyesta Pinoy hope to support the local Filipino restaurants for recovery. The coronavirus pandemic has been incredibly damaging to the restaurant industry so let’s show our support for their recovery during these challenging times. We are inviting all local Filipino restaurants to partner with Piyesta Pinoy to take part in a raffle promotion to benefit the Filipino owned restaurants affected due to the coronavirus pandemic. To participate or for any questions, please email us at  [email protected].

From May 15 to June 30, 2021, we invite everyone to dine in or order takeout food from any of the participating restaurants and you will be eligible to enter a raffle and get a chance to win prizes donated by the Piyesta Pinoy sponsors and donors. To join the raffle, fill up the Google form online – https://bit.ly/3x6RNy9. Watch for the announcement on the raffle drawing on July 3.

With the announcement of the easing of Covid restrictions in Illinois, we are happy to announce that we will be back at the “Roger C. Claar Performing Arts Center,” formerly know as the

Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center. In celebration of the 123rd Independence Day of the Philippines, we invite everyone to attend the Philippine flag raising ceremony at 8am on Saturday, June 12, 2021. We welcome Bolingbrook’s new Mayor – Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta, the staff from the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago and the newly ordained priest from the Diocese of Joliet Father John Ronaldo Gabutan Abulag who will be joining us. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to [email protected]. For everyone’s safety, we asked everyone to please bring and wear face masks and observe social distancing when necessary.
